These Knees Were Made For Walking

I am continuing to get ready to go. House needs to be ready for Airbnb guests by the 18th. I need to have the car packed and I am taking too much shit. But I don’t know what I will need and what I won’t.

I am driving out to Washington, to be with Ina while she is sick and will start my walk from the west coast eventually. My traveling companion for the first few days is Aaliyah Watson, a young lady I mentored for several years. She is going to Indiana where her mom, sister and brother are living. She was 6 when I met her and I have watched her grow up. I was her mentor until she moved to Indiana when she was 13 years old or so. She is 20 now. Hard to believe. So she will ride with me to Indianapolis. But we want to have some fun on our way. We are going through Asheville and will spend a couple of nights there, camping and hiking. Juney Wanke is a trail we found and liked the name. Should be just our speed, easy to moderate difficulty and not too long. Nothing too hard just yet. Aaliyah likes to cook and will find a new challenge in cooking on a camping trip. It will be fun to see what she comes up with.
