Itinerary

March 30-April 13: Killens State Park.

Planning on walking from Rehoboth to Washington, DC. I have to make my own map so we’ll see how this goes.

It didn’t go as well as I would have liked but I learned a lot. Decided to not try to walk the whole thing. Many of the routes that I could create with the apps I had included walking on busy roads with no sidewalks. Neither Jack nor I were very comfortable with this. So, we spent some time on established trails working on stamina and distance. It is a nice area.

Mileage total: 130

April 13-15: Washington, DC. Staying with Janneke Radcliffe. Finish the path from Rehoboth to Washington. Start on the C&O Canal Tow Path.

We left Killens Pond early. It was wet, rainy and cold. Janneke let us stay at her place from Friday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon. Washington, DC, is a busy place. We had a nice visit with Janneke and also started on the C&O.

April 15-25: Greenbelt National Park, Greenbelt, Maryland. Make progress on the C&O.

We arrived at Greenbelt on the 16th instead of the 15th. The park is very nice. Our campsite is primitive. That means water is a spigot a every once in a while and shared by other campers and no electricity. This is where we are now. I am finally feeling like things are getting organized. Got rid of some stuff. I am also learning how to charge my generator with solar panels. Turns out it is pretty easy. We have walked up to 12.5 mile marker on the C&O. Now we just continue on the C&O until we’re done.

April 25-May 9: McCoy’s Ferry Campground, Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Park. This campground is also a primitive campground. I will get a lot of practice with my generator. It also says bring plenty of potable water as all the pumps do not always work. I have a gravity water filtration system so I should be fine.

We will continue on the C&O Canal.

Mileage total for the C&O: 184.5

We should be finishing the C&O and starting on the Great Allegheny Passage. &
