On the road

I left on Tuesday and today is Sunday. I spent 2 nights at Bryson City, NC, in the Deep Creek campground in the National Park. What a beautiful place. I hiked up to Juney Whank falls, dipped my feet in the creek and enjoyed the surroundings.

Next I spent my 2 longest days of travel, over 8hrs of driving each day. Stopped in Mt. Vernon, IL then Omaha, NE. Just spent the night, not any sight seeing. Yesterday I made it to Chamberlain, SD. There is a sculpture here, Dignity: Earth and Sky.

WOW! I cannot say how in awe I was to see it in person. Just amazing.

Spent the night here and will head out in a little bit, to Gillette, Wyo. I used to have family there. The driving is now a little easier, just 4-5 hours a day, so I have time to stop and see things. Part of todays travels will take me through the Badlands and Black Hills. I am looking forward to that.
